Arnold - South Africa - VSDA Quality Assurance
Officer
I was born in South Africa on 25
July 1953. I am a computer programmer who now lectures
in Visual Basic and Web Development, amongst other
subjects.
I have been programming in COBOL since 1978. I switched to Windows programming
in 1992, using mostly Visual Basic, as well as Delphi. Since 1996, I have been
involved in numerous projects to build Internet database systems using both SQL
Server and Oracle. I have had no formal education with regards to web development
- this is something I picked up through the years in between the more formal
programming. I currently develop both server-side and client-side websites, mainly
for my own use or to help students, friends, and family.
I am proficient in ASP, JavaScript, XHTML, HTML, XML, and CSS. I still come from
the old school that believe websites should be built using a text editor and
nothing else. I do, however, use the fancy new editors to ensure that my code
validates and to save time.
My only hobby at present it to maintain the WOW Factor Awards Program. I am the
sole evaluator for my program. This keeps me busy and provides hours of fun.
