How long will my evaluation take?
Normally up to four weeks from the date
of your application but this time frame could extend to 60
days. If this becomes the case, we will post a notice on
our main site page informing you of the current time frame.
Also there may be times when we become overloaded with applications.
When this occurs we will place a temporary suspension on
all applications until the back log is cleared.

Why
do you require that I have a page to display Awards?
One of the main reasons for disqualification
is that the applicant's site does not have a page to display
awards. Our evaluators spend a great deal of time
and effort reviewing each website and providing feedback.
Our evaluators aren't getting paid for this service, they
are doing it to help webmasters and webmasters. As a result,
they hope to make the Internet a better and safer place.
We'd like to know that you're serious about earning our award,
just as we're serious about reviewing your website!

Will you inform me if I don't qualify for an award and why?
Yes, you will receive a notification listing
the reasons as to why your site was disqualified and the
evaluators comments. We do reserve the right not to get into
arguments or lengthy discussions over your site not being
awarded. Our evaluators will offer constructive feedback.
In turn, we ask that you approach us in a constructive manner.
Abusive emails will only result in your site being permanently
banned from re-applying. Remember, you came to us for our
opinion and advice on your site and we respect you for that,
so please also respect us. If you do have a valid complaint
and it is put politely, we will look into it and hopefully
we will reach a satisfactory resolution.

Can I apply for an upgrade of my award at any time?
Certainly! We encourage you to reapply.
You must wait 90 days and have made applicable
changes/improvements to your site. But, please keep in
mind that we don't expect you to make changes to your website
unless you agree with our feedback and recommendations. If
you are satisfied with the way your site looks and you don't
agree with our recommendations, then don't make the changes.
The bottom line is that you need to be happy with your website
and no award is more important than that!

How
do you come up with your criteria ?
If you've applied for awards before, you'll
notice that there are similarities in much of the criteria.
Most Awards Programs require that you have a family-friendly
website (first and foremost!), that it functions well and
is easy to navigate, and that it has a pleasant design with
meaningful content. Several of the VSDA Evaluators are professional
web designers and/or have worked in
web applications for more than a few years. Our criteria
is based on elements and values that we apply to our own
commercial and personal websites. Our criteria
is comprised of objective elements that we feel make
up a good website. It is not based on personal preferences...
